In the lead up to Easter there are always plenty of nest buns floating about but I'm yet to see anyone make them the way I was taught to by my mum when I was little. So I thought I'd share the technique with you that, to me, makes so much more sense than cornflake buns.
All you need: 4 Shredded Wheat . 200g melted chocolate . 4 tablespoons syrup . 1 bag of Mini Eggs
Crumble up the shredded wheat into a mixing bowl & melt the chocolate in a separate bowl.
Pour in the syrup and chocolate and get mixing. Once the crumbles are all covered in chocolate start dishing them into bun cases and create a hole in the middle ready for the Mini Eggs. This recipe will make roughly 8 large or 12 small nest buns - naturally I've gone for the large because I can convince myself that I've been good by only eating one, even if it is the size of a tennis ball...
Add a couple of chickies for effect and stick them in the fridge for about 30 minutes and that's it. Super easy Easter buns that actually look like nests. Thanks mum!
Let me know if you give this a try and tell me what you think.
